FSStation: Flight Simulator X interviews!

The popular gaming website Gamespot has just released two interviews with Microsoft representants regarding the new features of Flight Simulator X! The two interviews provide a much more complete insight about the new version of Flight Simulator than the short Mircosoft presentation at the CES 2006 - they have 10:39 and 5:12 minutes in length.

In the first interview, Chris Donohue starts by explaining the DirectX 10 features and states that it will be significantly faster than the previous version, which will allow the simulator to include many more visual features without any performance loss. Although the benefits of DirectX 10 hardware are huge, Flight Simulator X will still work on DirectX 9... no question about that. Chris also says that Microsoft's strong point is to give support for people who develop products for the platform - and this will continue to happen on the next version of Flight Simulator! This first interviews mostly discuss the technical improvements of the upcoming Windows Vista and DirectX 10 and its application in new games.

In the second interview, Mike Gilbert says that Flight Simulator X will take full advantage of Windows Vista, DirectX 10 and nextgen hardware to deliver the best possible graphics. There are great improvements in the environment, for example, with cloud shadows, new lighting and water technology, etc. He also reports that there will be tutorials and missions for the beginners to familiarize with the product, there will be much more guidance for people with little knowledge about aviation. For the hardcore simmers, Flight Simulator X will deliver a completely new multiplayer engine and will still support the 3rd party add-ons that are currently in the market. He ends the interview saying that Flight Simulator X will be awesome for people of all interests and skill levels.
